Motion to Approve the 2027 City Council Meeting Calendar

SUMMARY
The City Council adopts an annual meeting calendar by motion. The proposed 2027 City Council Meeting Calendar is presented for City Council review and adoption.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommends the City Council review the proposed 2027 City Council Meeting Calendar, consider any revisions, and adopt the calendar by motion.
BACKGROUND
The City Council Meeting Calendar is prepared annually by the City Clerk’s Office. The purpose of this tool is to facilitate effective planning and coordination of regular meetings, work sessions, and committee activities for the upcoming year.
Although the City Council Committees have not yet adopted their 2027 meeting calendars, tentative meeting dates are included for planning and coordination purposes. Staff anticipate bringing the committee calendars forward to each of those bodies for approval in early 2027.
Current Agency Policies
• City Council Regular Meetings: Held on the first and third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. (San Leandro Municipal Code 1-1-200)
• City Council Work Sessions: Ordinarily held on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. (San Leandro Administrative Code 1.1.105)
• Council Committee Meetings: Each Council Committee adopts a regular meeting schedule at least annually (Resolution No. 2025-117)
• Annual August Recess: The City Council observes an annual recess during August. (Resolution No. 2025-117)
Financial Impacts
City Council and committee meetings require significant staff time and City resources. However, adoption of the 2027 City Council Meeting Calendar does not result in any additional financial impacts, as these activities are budgeted as part of the City’s regular operations.
