Title
Adopt a Resolution to Amend the City-wide Master Salary Schedule to Correct an Administrative Error on the City Manager’s Salary
Staffreport
SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommend that the City Council adopt a resolution to amend the City-wide Master Salary Schedule to administratively correct the City Manager’s listed salary, which did not properly reflect the salary adjustment pursuant to the City Manager’s Employment Agreement.
BACKGROUND
On June 16, 2025, the City Council approved the most recent revision of the Master Salary Schedule to reflect salary adjustments effective July 1, 2025. Per City Manager Janelle Cameron’s employment agreement, the City Manager was to receive a 3.5% salary increase to her annual base salary of $350,000. Due to an administrative error made by the Human Resources Department, the City Manager’s monthly salary was incorrectly listed on the Master Salary Schedule.
The corrected Master Salary Schedule accurately reflects the City Manager’s intended salary effective July 1, 2025. This administrative correction does not authorize any new or additional compensation for the City Manager.
Analysis
The City Manager’s monthly salary listed on the previously adopted Citywide Master Salary Schedule does not reflect the 3.5% salary adjustment the City Manager was to receive on July 1, 2025.
Effective date Annual Salary Monthly Salary
June 22, 2024 $350,000 $29,166.67
ERROR July 1, 2025 $30,097
CORRECTION July 1, 2025 $362,250 $30,187.50
As required by California Code of Regulations (CCR) §570.5, upon City Council approval, the Master Salary Schedule will be made publicly available on the City’s website.
Previous Actions
• Resolution No. 2024-082 to Approve an Employment Agreement with Janelle Cameron to Serve as City Manager
• Resolution No. 2025-075 to Amend the Master Salary Schedule effective July 1, 2025
Financial Impacts
There is no financial impact associated with the approval of this corrected Master Salary Schedule. The salary adjustment was part of the previously approved City Manager Employment Agreement, and appropriation has been incorporated as part of actions taken through the Fiscal Year 2025-2027 biennial budget processes to the corresponding salary allocations.
