SUMMARY
The City has an existing Consulting Services Agreement with Krisch & Company to provide Interim Finance and Accounting Managerial Services due to the recent promotion of the Finance Director to Assistant City Manager. Amendment No. 1 extends the agreement through March 2025 while the City recruits for a permanent Finance Director.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommends City Council approve Krisch & Company Amendment No. 1 for an additional $55,745 through March 2025.
BACKGROUND
The City has an existing Consulting Services Agreement (CSA) in the amount of $99,255 with Krisch & Company to provide Interim Finance Director services due to the recent promotion of the Finance Director to Assistant City Manager. The City is currently working with an executive search firm to find a new Finance Director.
Analysis
Krisch & Company has been providing Interim Finance Director services since July 2024. Maintaining continuity in service is critical to ensure that the City has high-level financial support for complex financial matters in implementation of City goals and policies as well as understanding of City operations and financial conditions.
Staff is working with an executive search firm on a recruitment for a new Finance Director with the ideal timeframe of having the position filled in early 2025. Krish & Company will continue providing Interim Finance Director services while the position is vacant and also help transition the leadership of the Finance Department to a new director during a time when the City will be structuring a new biennial budget.
Amendment No. 1 extends the agreement through March 2025 and adds $55,745 for a total of $155,000 exceeding the City Manager’s contract authority and requiring Council approval.
Legal Analysis
The City Attorney’s Office has approved the amendment to form and the consultant has agreed to the terms of the contract.
Financial Impacts
Approval of Amendment No. 1 will add $55,745 to the Krisch & Company contract for an amount not to exceed $155,000. Sufficient funds are included in the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Finance Department operating budget through salary savings associated with the vacant Finance Director position. Therefore, this Council action will not impact fund balance.
