SUMMARY
The San Leandro Public Library received a donation of $50,000 from the Friends of the San Leandro Public Library. These funds help augment the programming the Library provides, especially the Summer Library Program that provides youth a structured program over the summer that focuses on reading.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommend the City Council adopt the Resolution to accept the Friends of the San Leandro Public Library donation totaling $50,000 and authorize the City Manager to execute all documents and appropriate the funds.
BACKGROUND
The Friends of the San Leandro Public Library was established in 1984 to support the San Leandro Public Library. They have continuously supported the Library ever since.
Mainly, the Friends support the Library through funds earned through membership dues and sale of used books.
Their funding, while consistently supportive, varies from year to year depending on what the Friends decide is within their budget.

Summary of Public Outreach Efforts
The Friends of the San Leandro Public Library are a volunteer body of community members and a subset of the public. Additionally, their membership is very connected to the community and their voice is an informed voice. The Library attends their monthly board meetings. Their gift comes from relationship the Library has developed with the Friends and their informed support of library services and community needs.
Legal Analysis
The City Attorney reviewed these documents and agreements and approved as to form.
Financial Impacts
Acceptance of this donation will not impact the General Fund. There is no City match required.
This action will result in Council approval of the appropriation of revenue funds, and budget expenditure appropriation. Appropriated revenue for the donation will be deposited into the 010-3803 Revenue Account and budget appropriation for expenditures as follows:
• Friends of the Library - Donation, Account 010-68-005: $50,000
• Total $50,000
