SUMMARY
The City's current agreement with Meyers Nave for legal services was authorized in an amount not to exceed $1,014,300 in Fiscal Year 2023-2024. Additional funds are needed to pay for incurred and anticipated costs for legal services for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2023-2024.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommends the City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an amendment to the agreement with Meyers Nave for the provision of legal services to increase the amount by $186,122 for a total amount not to exceed $1,200,422 in Fiscal Year 2023-2024.
BACKGROUND
The City of San Leandro has contracted with Meyers Nave for the provision of legal services for numerous years. The current agreement was amended on December 19, 2022 by Resolution No. 2022-220, the total annual cost of which was not to exceed $1,014,300 in Fiscal Year 2023-2024. The contract funding was split between the General Fund and the Risk Management Internal Service Fund (ISF):

* Total $1,014,300
Funding in both accounts is exhausted. Additional funds are needed to pay for incurred expenses in March, April, and May of 2024; and anticipated expenses in June of 2024 relating to the provision of legal services. Therefore, staff recommends amending the agreement with Meyers Nave to increase the amount by $186,122 to pay for legal services for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2023-2024.
Financial Impacts
The amendment will be funded from existing budget appropriations and salary savings, resulting in no impact to undesignated fund balances.
