Staff Report for Presentation by StopWaste on Expansion of the Reusable Bag Ordinance

Staffreport

SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS

The Alameda County Waste Management Authority (ACWMA), also known as StopWaste, is considering an expansion to the countywide Reusable Bag Ordinance. The revised ordinance would effectively ban single-use bags at all retail stores and restaurants. StopWaste is presenting the proposed ordinance expansion to member agencies for consideration by the ACWMA board in the fall.

Staff recommends that the City Council discuss the Reusable Bag Ordinance expansion proposed by StopWaste, and provide direction to Councilmember Cox regarding San Leandro’s vote at the ACWMA board meeting in the fall.
