Vision for Lake Chabot Road
Staffreport
Presentation on Vision for Lake Chabot Road
BACKGROUND
Lake Chabot Road between Chabot Terrace and Astor Way currently has two travel lanes and a roadway shoulder that varies in width from zero to six feet wide. Bicycles and pedestrians can use the shoulder where it is present but must use the travel lane in many locations. The City has a vision for the road that includes improved pedestrian and bike facilities but this vision is not easy to implement. In the near term, staff recommends closing this segment of Lake Chabot Road to vehicles and dedicating the road for use only by bicycles and pedestrians, plus maintenance vehicles.
