Staffreport

SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS

City staff and consultant team will present to the Committee the draft Crosstown Corridor Study along Bancroft Avenue and Williams Street

BACKGROUND

The Crosstown Corridors study project was identified as a high priority in the 2018 Update of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan (BPMP) based on a robust public planning process, review of existing data, and on the ground conditions. The City was awarded a Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant to study the implementation of Class IV bicycle lanes on Bancroft

Avenue and Williams Street.

The Crosstown Class IV Corridors Study identifies opportunities to improve safety, access, and mobility for all roadway users along Bancroft Avenue and Williams Street.  Bancroft Avenue and Williams Street are two major corridors that provide important connections to nine schools, transit, housing, recreation areas, and businesses. The Study includes community engagement and detailed traffic and safety analysis. Community engagement efforts assisted with identifying key issues on both corridors and collaboratively develop design solutions. The Study developed a set of recommendations for separated bike lanes and pedestrian improvements that the City can take forward for future funding opportunities.
