SUMMARY

It is recommended that the City Council adopt a resolution approving and authorizing the City Manager to execute a First Amendment to the Agreement with the San Leandro Improvement Association (SLIA) for management and operation of the San Leandro Cherry Festival for FY 2026.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Staff recommend that the City Council adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a First Amendment to the Agreement with the San Leandro Improvement Association to:

1. Extend the Agreement term through June 30, 2026, and
2. Authorize an increase to the agreement in a not-to-exceed amount of $60,638.00 for FY 2026, for a total agreement amount not-to-exceed $173,388.00

BACKGROUND

The San Leandro Cherry Festival is the City's largest and longest-running signature community event, attracting more than 25,000 attendees annually. The City entered into an Agreement with SLIA on December 19, 2023, to provide planning, coordination, vendor management, marketing, production, and day-of operations support for the festival.

The current Agreement expired on June 30, 2025. The Agreement includes provisions allowing for three (3) one-year extensions via mutual written amendment, subject to City approval. Because planning for the 2026 Cherry Festival must begin early in the calendar year, an extension is necessary to avoid operational disruption and ensure continuity of services.
