SUMMARY

The City's Water Pollution Control Plant requires annual landscaping services. This amendment would add scope to the City's current agreement with Brightview Landscaping.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Staff recommend that the City Council approve and authorize the City Manager to amend the Non-Professional Services Agreement (NPSA) with Brightview Landscape Services, Inc. to include monthly landscape maintenance services at the City's Water Pollution Control Plant.

BACKGROUND

The City of San Leandro's Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP), located at 3000 Davis Street, requires routine landscaping maintenance. The scope of work includes weekly landscaping maintenance around the site, quarterly weed abatement around the solar panel area, and yearly weed abatement by the pond on the property.

The City currently has a five-year agreement for landscaping maintenance for Citywide median and City facilities with Brightview Landscape Services, Inc. spanning from December 1, 2023 through June 30, 2029. This amendment includes adding the Water Pollution Control Plant site to the current scope of work.

Analysis

Amendment of the current contract will improve procurement of routine services in a multi-year contract, lock in rates and increases, as well as efficiency to streamline purchasing across multiple City departments for similar services.

The first year costs for the additional scope items are:

* Weekly maintenance at the WPCP: $ 21,900
* Quarterly solar area weed abatement: $ 10,000
* Annual Weed abatement at the pond: $ 8,781
* Annual mulching as needed: $ 1,500
* Other tasks as needed: $ 20,000
* Total for FY 2027: $ 62,181
