SUMMARY
The Rotary Club of San Leandro is celebrating its 100th anniversary. As part of the celebration, the Rotary Club will make a $100,000 donation to the City to support the installation of a new fitness court at Marina Park. The donation will support both the installation of the fitness court and commemorative elements recognizing the Rotary Club's centennial, including locally designed artwork integrated into the fitness court and a monument with a dedication plaque at the site.
This contribution reflects the Rotary Club of San Leandro's continued commitment to community service and aligns with City efforts to expand access to outdoor recreation and wellness amenities.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommend the City Council adopt a Resolution to accept the donation from the Rotary Club of San Leandro and authorize the City Manager to execute all documents and appropriate $100,000 to support the installation of the fitness court and related commemorative improvements at Marina Park.
BACKGROUND
The Rotary Club of San Leandro is a local chapter of Rotary International, a global service organization dedicated to improving communities through volunteerism and leadership. The Club was founded in 1926 and will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026.
Since its inception, it has been dedicated to carrying out service projects that benefit the San Leandro community and support broader humanitarian initiatives through community improvement, youth development, education, public health, and participation in international service projects.
