SUMMARY
On March 10, 2024, the San Leandro Police Department (SLPD) began coordinating the transfers of 9-1-1 and non-emergency telephone calls to ensure continuous public safety services for the City of San Leandro by contracting with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Dispatch Center (ACSO ESD). The initial agreement was set for six months, with two 6-month extension options. On September 10, 2024, SLPD exercised the first extension option, renewing the contract with ACSO ESD for an additional four months, which expired on January 4, 2025.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution to approve and authorize the City Manager to increase the not to exceed amount by $51,472.92 bringing the total not to exceed amount to $351,472.92
BACKGROUND
On April 15, 2024, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2024-036, authorizing the City Manager to enter into an agreement with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Dispatch Center (ACSO ESD) for Public Safety Answering Point Services (PSAP) for the San Leandro Police Department Communications Center (Comm Center), the City's primary PSAP. This agreement was established to ensure reliable 9-1-1 services amidst ongoing staffing shortages. Under the terms of the agreement, SLPD engaged ACSO for both 9-1-1 and non-emergency call answering services. The initial contract was set for six months, with two 6-month extension options.
