SUMMARY
The City's Recreation and Parks Department received a $25,000 grant from Kaiser Permanente. These funds help augment the programming the Recreation and Parks Department provides, especially the Senior Grocery Delivery Program that provides seniors with mobility limitations access to healthy food through home delivery.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommend that the City Council adopt the Resolution to:

1. Accept $25,000 in grant funding from the Kaiser Permanente; and
2. Appropriate $25,000 of grant funds in the Special Grants Fund, Senior Services Program; and
3. Authorize the City Manager to execute all related agreements and documents necessary to proceed with the project implementation.

BACKGROUND
The City's Recreation and Parks Department currently offers food access programs at the Senior and Marina Community Centers for seniors but has identified a specific need to support seniors, who due to mobility limitations from acute or chronic health condition, are not able to pick up their grocery bag at one of the two community centers. To address this need, the Recreation and Parks Department applied for the 2026 Kaiser Permanente Community Health Grant, an annual program that funds innovative projects that support the health and wellbeing of the community. With this grant, the Recreation and Parks Department will support the health and wellbeing of San Leandro seniors by implementing activities outlined in the City's Age-Friendly Action Plan, strengthen its partnership with local community-based organizations, increase the promotion and outreach about services, and enhance the City's partnership with Kaiser Permanente.
