SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Staff recommends acceptance of the work, filing of the Notice of Completion, and authorizing the City Manager to release the maintenance bonds for the subject project upon successful completion of the one-year maintenance period.

BACKGROUND

Two street segments were reconstructed as part of the subject project:
* Bigge Street from Adams Avenue east to end at cul-de-sac
* East side of Bancroft Avenue from Dutton Avenue to San Leandro Creek

Reconstruction consisted of installing a new asphalt concrete (AC) pavement section on a cement stabilized base. This process involved removing the existing AC pavement, mixing cement into the road base to provide a stable foundation and installing a surface course of new AC. The project also completed sanitary sewer point repairs and installed speed cushions on several residential streets.

Speed cushions were installed at eight new locations as part of this project:
* One on Durant Avenue between Warwick and Bancroft Avenues,
* Three on Juana Avenue between Rosa Street and Bancroft Avenue,
* Two on Durant Avenue between East 14th Street and Breed Avenue,
* One on Breed Avenue between Durant Avenue and Broadmoor Boulevard, and
* One on 138th Avenue across from the San Leandro Senior Community Center.

Seven existing asphalt concrete speed cushions were also replaced on Durant Avenue between Breed Avenue and Mac Arthur Boulevard: The existing asphalt concrete speed cushions were replaced with preformed rubberized ones per current City standards.

In addition, sanitary sewer point repairs were made to sewer mains near four manhole locations along Bancroft Avenue: one between Dutton Avenue and Oakes Boulevard, and the other three at the intersections of Glen Drive, Begier Avenue, and Pala Avenue. These point repairs fi...
