RESOLUTION Authorizing the City Manager to Accept the Department of Justice’s Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Award of $30,413.30 and to Appropriate these Funds for Technology Improvements

WHEREAS, the Byrne JAG Program is administered by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs and was created in 2005 by merging the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program (Byrne) with the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program (LLEBG); and
WHEREAS, Byrne JAG funding can be used to support a broad range of state and local government projects, including those designed to prevent and control crime and to improve the criminal justice system; and
WHEREAS, on June 16th, 2016, the San Leandro Police Department (SLPD) submitted a request for grant funding through the County of Alameda for Byrne JAG funding to enhance mobile accessibility of SLPD’s current computer-aided dispatch system; and
WHEREAS, the SLPD was awarded Department of Justice (DOJ)-JAG funding of $30,413.30 for the project proposed.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows:
1. That the City Manager is authorized to accept the Department of Justice-Justice Assistance Grant award for technology improvements totaling $30,413.30; and
2. That an appropriation of the DOJ-JAG funding of $30,413.30 to account #150-21-052 is approved.
