SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution to amend the salary schedule for the City Manager.
BACKGROUND
As approved by the City Council on February 26, 2015, the employment agreement of the City Manager’s base salary shall be adjusted annually by the Consolidated Metropolitan Statistical Area (CMSA) Consumer Price Index (commonly known and referred to as the “CPI”) covering the San Francisco Area. As reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the CPI increased 3.5% percent over the last 12 months. <http://www.bls.gov/regions/west/news-release/home.htm>
The salary schedule is in accordance with California Code of Regulations Section 570.5, which requires that salary schedules be in a format that identifies the position title, the pay rate, the effective date, the range, and be duly approved and adopted by our governing body.
Fiscal Impacts
The 3.5% CPI increase represents an annual increase of $8,280, which has been budgeted.
