1. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Pauline Cutter called the meeting to order at 4:04 p.m.

2. DISCUSSION ITEMS
2.A. Discussion Regarding City Camera Systems
City Attorney Richard Pio Roda, Senior Transportation Engineer Reh-Lin Chen, Captain Jamie Knox and Public Works Director Debbie Pollart co-presented an update on the City's camera inventory.
Committee Requests/Direction to Staff:
- Mayor Cutter wants to begin discussion regarding contract expiration/renewal for Redflex well ahead of contract termination date of April 20, 2019 at first meeting in April 2018.
- Mayor Cutter requests creation of process for a data-driven request for cameras at new locations, particularly using analysis of current crime data/stats.
- Councilmember Lopez recommends researching increasing image resolution of cameras that have shorter retention periods.
- Councilmember Lopez recommends investigating installation of cameras along BRT route for transit user safety as City does not have access to existing Caltrans cameras along E. 14th nor do BRT cameras provide views of outside of planned bus stops.
- City Manager Zapata recommends review of best practices for collaboration with cameras maintained by homeowners and businesses.
- Mayor Cutter would like a recap of this presentation at a future Council meeting.
2.B. Project Updates
2.B.1 Street Rehabilitation Projects
City Engineer Nick Thom provided updates on current Overlay/Rehab 15-16 project, as well as on upcoming street sealing, curb ramps and Overlay/Rehab 16-17 projects.
Committee Requests/Direction to Staff:
- Councilmember Lopez requests capture of before condition traffic/collision data and after improvements to determine impact of striping improvements on San Leandro Blvd.
2.B.2 Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan/Bike to Work Day
Principal Engineer Michael Stella provided community survey results associated with the Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan update and reminded the committee about Bike to Work Day on Thursday, May 11.
2.B.3 City Projects
Update to RFP for Broadband Strategy
Proposals received from five respondents; consulting services contract will go to Council in near future.

4. COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS
Councilmember Lopez expressed her gratitude for staff efforts in community outreach for BPMP survey. She also expressed thanks for traffic calming efforts in restriping along San Leandro Blvd. She would like to work with staff to schedule a community meeting for feedback on restriping plans as well.
