1. CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order at 8:33 a.m.

Committee members present: Mayor Pauline Cutter, Councilmember Lee Thomas, Councilmember Pete Ballew

City staff present: City Manager, Chris Zapata, Assistant City Manager Jeff Kay; City Clerk Tamika Greenwood; Community Development Director, Cynthia Battenberg; Assistant Community Development Director Tom Liao; City Attorney, Rich Pio Roda

2. DISCUSSION ITEMS

2. A. Proposed Tenant Relocation Assistance Program

The Committee received an update from Tom Liao regarding revisions to the ordinance. Highlights of the discussion included:

a. Whether this can be passed as an urgency ordinance
b. Whether this should be tied to the Rent Review Board
c. Whether eviction notifications are necessary
d. Anything else that needs to be vetted should happen with the full council present

After public testimony and committee discussion and questions, the committee recommended the following:

Recommendation: Move the item forward to the full council for June 19, 2017. The City Attorney will review the shortest timeline in which we can implement- either urgency ordinance or regular ordinance.


2. B. Legislative Advocacy Travel to Washington D.C.

Jeff Kay provided background. The committed did not make a firm decision on a new policy. Instead, they will revisit the subject during the Councilmember Handbook amendments.
