SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS
As directed by the City Council at its June 5, 2017 regular meeting, the Rules Committee is to review the Tobacco Retailers License Ordinance, including City Council comments, and send back to the City Council for a new First Reading at the City Council’s September 18, 2017 regular meeting. Specific comments for the Committee’s attention:
- Changing the penalties for violations of the ordinance
- Changing the age requirements applicable to those who may sell tobacco products
- Changing requirements related to minimum pack sizes permitted for sale
Although this list is not exhaustive, these were the main comments that were heard from City Council that night.
Recommendation
Review the Ordinance, and provide direction to staff or the City Council.
