RESOLUTION of the City Council to Approve and Adopt the Fiber Optic Master Plan
Body
WHEREAS, in July 2017 the City contracted with Magellan Advisors to develop a Fiber Optic Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Fiber Optic Master Plan provides specific recommendations regarding the enhancement and expansion of the City’s municipal fiber network; and
WHEREAS, the Fiber Optic Master Plan includes a comprehensive Smart City Strategy intended to guide the deployment of “smart” technology solutions and services in the future; and
WHEREAS, the City together with Magellan Advisors, conducted four public meetings and two online surveys to receive resident and business comment and input; and
WHEREAS, the 2018 Fiber Optic Master Plan is wholly consistent with the 2035 San Leandro General Plan, the 2018 Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan, the City’s Hazard Mitigation Plan, and the Bayfair Transit Oriented Development Master Plan; and;
WHEREAS, the City Council saw a draft presentation of the preliminary results of the study during a City Council Work Session on June 11, 2018, during which the Council provided input and guidance on the final draft; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is familiar with the final draft of the Fiber Optic Master Plan attached to this resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro HEREBY RESOLVES that the Fiber Optic Master Plan is approved and adopted.
