Title

RESOLUTION of the City of San Leandro City Council to Authorize the Appropriation of Asset Seizure Fund 146 Fund Balance in the Amount of $180,000 to the Federal and State Asset Seizure Operating Expenditure budget for FY 2018-19.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Police Department has multiple projects it needs to fund with money from the Asset Seizure Fund; and

 

WHEREAS, the Asset Seizure Fund account is a special reserve account to fund police-specific needs, like equipment, supplies, or services that comply with the Department of Justice’s Guidelines for use of such funds; and

 

WHEREAS, this appropriation of funds will supply police officers with the equipment, supplies, and services necessary to serve public safety that are not currently budgeted in the General Fund, as detailed in the associated staff report.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows:

 

That the following Asset Seizure appropriations are approved, as more fully described in the staff report associated with this resolution:

 

1.                     $50,000 to fund an upgrade to the current Tyler/New World Enterprise records management system for NIBRS compliance-Federal Asset Seizure (Account #146-21-014-5311);

 

2.                     $25,000 to purchase police equipment and supplies-Federal Asset Seizure (Account #146-21-014-6272);

 

3.                     $35,000 to digitize archived police records-State Asset Seizure (Account #146-21-017-5120);

 

4.                     $70,000 to fund a building project to permanently address overnight housing of San Leandro’s animal population and the department’s MedEvac at the Public Works Service Center-State Asset Seizure (Account #146-21-017-7210).
