RESOLUTION of the City of San Leandro City Council to Authorize the City Manager to Allocate $23,000 from the General Fund to the Alta Mira Club for the Repair and Restoration Stained Glass Panels and Window at the Ygnacio Peralta House (Historical Landmark #285)

WHEREAS, the Alta Mira Club of San Leandro is a member of the California Federation of Women's Clubs; and
WHEREAS, the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) is an international women's organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service for more than 126 years; and
WHEREAS, the Clubs of GFWC are located throughout California with the primary purposes of carrying out charitable service programs, providing leadership opportunities, and enriching the lives of its members through personal growth; and
WHEREAS, Alta Mira Club's purpose is to promote community cultural education, social welfare, and to encourage public participation in civic affairs; and
WHEREAS, Alta Mira Club also maintains a historic residence located at 561 Lafayette Avenue in San Leandro, which is used to host a range of public and community events throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, the historic house was constructed in 1860 and is now in need of a window and art glass panel repairs that will be of benefit to the public; and
WHEREAS, the Alta Mira Club submitted to the City proposals from art glass specialists identifying the costs of repairing the window and conserving the art glass panes, the total costs of which are estimated to be $28,535; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is familiar with the contents thereof; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends approval of allocating sufficient funds from the City's General Fund to address these repairs, because it is in the City's interests for the Alta Mira Club to continue its community activities, which provide b...
