RESOLUTION of the City of San Leandro City Council to Appropriate Up to $210,000 Towards Upcoming 150th Anniversary Celebrations and a Potential City Council Trip to Visit Sister City Ponta Delgada, Portugal

WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro was incorporated in 1872; and
WHEREAS, the 2022 calendar year will commemorate 150 years of San Leandro's incorporation, otherwise known as its sesquicentennial; and
WHEREAS, in an effort to celebrate this notable milestone, the City Council desires to plan and execute various related events and deliverables that could include City Council district events, a birthday party event around the anniversary date, special activities in collaboration with the historical society, and/or a notable presence at the 2022 Cherry Festival; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the above-described activities, the City Council also desires to enable its members to travel to Ponta Delgada, Portugal, which is a long-standing Sister City of San Leandro since 1970.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro hereby RESOLVES that:
The City Council authorizes an appropriation of up to $210,000 from undesignated General Fund reserves to off-set the costs of the above-referenced activities, which shall be programmed in the following budgetary accounts:
• 010-11-010-5120 (City Council consulting): $170,000
• 010-11-010-5512 (City Council travel): $40,000
