SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Staff Recommends that the City Council approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a consulting services agreement with CSG Consultants, Inc. (CSG) that provides structural and electrical design services for scoreboard replacements at three City parks.

Staff recommends the following actions:
* Approve a consulting services agreement with CSG for a not-to-exceed amount of $62,446

BACKGROUND

The City of San Leandro has four electronic scoreboards at three park facilities: San Leandro Ball Park, Stenzel Park, and Thrasher Park. The electronic scoreboards are past the end of their useful lives, are outdated, and are in disrepair. City staff, in conjunction with a contract electrician, attempted to make necessary repairs to the units to keep them functional for the 2021 ball season, but parts are no longer available, and the units are not fully functional for the 2022 season.

CSG currently provides design services for City facility and park maintenance and repair projects including the scoreboard replacement project. The project requires additional structural and electrical design services that are outside the scope of their existing contract.

Analysis

CSG will provide structural design services to ensure that the support structures used for the proposed scoreboards equipment are sufficient and up to current code. CSG will draft structural calculations, structural plans, and an engineer's cost estimate for the replacements. In addition, CSG will subcontract with American Consulting Engineers Electrical (ACEE) to determine the adequacy of the existing power supply for the proposed scoreboards equipment.
