Staffreport
SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS
This is a staff update to the Facilities and Transportation Committee on the three current pool projects in the Capital Improvement Program.
• On the Boys and Girls Club Pool Resurfacing Project, the consultant (Terracon), is currently preparing pre-bid documents.
• On the Farrelly Pool Reconstruction Project, staff is currently negotiating a design contract with the top-ranked consultant, Glass Architects, selected from a pool of proposals.
• On the Family Aquatics Center Competition Pool Project, the consultant, Glass Architects is preparing conceptual plans and estimate for the addition of a new competition pool.
This report is for information only and no action is required at this time.
BACKGROUND
The Boys and Girls Club Pool Resurfacing Project will upgrade the pool pump equipment, remove and replace existing copper plumbing with upsized PVC plumbing, repair any damage to the pool shell and deck resulting from the work, and re-plaster the entire pool.
The Farrelly Pool Reconstruction project will replace the existing combination pool which does not comply with current code requirements. Two separate pools will be built: a shallow training pool 2’-3’ deep, and a lap pool ranging from 4’-6’ deep. There will be upgrades to the existing building to meet accessibility and code requirements, as necessary.
The Family Aquatic Center Competition Pool project will add a 25yd x 25meter competition pool to the existing pool facility. The facility will allow for competitive swim meets as well as water polo matches.
